JOB PURPOSE
Command ARFF operations during shift duty to maintain a high state of emergency readiness, safeguard airport operations and ensure effective response to critical incidents.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Emergency Response & Incident Command
- Lead frontline Firefighting & Rescue personnel during aircraft accidents, fires, rescue operations, medical emergencies and other airport incidents.
- Assume initial incident command, conduct dynamic risk assessments and deploy personnel and resources to achieve safe and effective emergency outcomes.
- Coordinate emergency response activities with internal stakeholders and external emergency agencies to support effective incident management.
- Ensure emergency response actions are executed in accordance with approved procedures, safety requirements and operational priorities.
- Monitor incident response performance and contribute to post-incident reviews, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Operational Readiness, Airfield Support & Compliance
- Maintain operational readiness of personnel, vehicles, equipment and emergency response systems through routine inspections and assurance activities.
- Supervise shift operations to ensure compliance with aviation regulations, airport procedures and Firefighting & Rescue operational standards.
- Conduct airfield patrols and inspections, identifying, reporting and supporting the resolution of operational hazards, defects and safety concerns.
- Support airfield safety programmes through FOD management, wildlife hazard reporting and operational monitoring activities.
- Maintain accurate operational records, incident documentation and shift logs to support operational oversight and regulatory compliance.
- Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, motivate and develop Firefighting & Rescue personnel to maintain high standards of professionalism, teamwork and operational discipline.
- Conduct shift briefings, handovers and work allocation activities to ensure continuity of emergency response capability.
- Coach and assess personnel through structured training, operational supervision and competency development programmes.
- Coordinate emergency exercises, operational drills and readiness activities to strengthen operational capability and preparedness.
- Monitor personnel competencies, certifications and fitness requirements, escalating operational risks and development needs where appropriate.
- Safety Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Promote compliance with the Airport Safety Management System (SMS) through proactive hazard reporting and safety assurance activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational efficiencies, lessons learned and best practices.
- Support workforce development and succession planning activities to strengthen long-term operational capability.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety, Emergency Management, Aviation Operations or a related discipline.
- Bachelor's degree or advanced training in Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) is preferred.
- Sound knowledge of airport emergency response, incident command, airport operations and aviation safety standards.
- Work Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), airport firefighting or emergency response within a safety-critical environment.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a Crew Supervisor, Leading Firefighter or in an equivalent supervisory role with responsibility for leading emergency response teams.
- Strong knowledge of Airport Emergency Plans (AEP), incident command principles and airport emergency response procedures.
- Experience participating in emergency exercises and coordinating with multiple emergency response agencies during operational incidents.
- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making and team coaching skills within a 24/7 operational environment.
- Certifications & Licenses
- Professional Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) qualification.
- Professional Firefighting qualification recognised under Vietnamese regulations or an equivalent certification.
- Safety Management System (SMS) training certification.
- First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
- Airside Driving Permit (ADP); Radio Telephony (RT), Hazardous Materials (HazMat) or Incident Command training is preferred.
