JOB PURPOSE
Monitor airfield operating conditions and critical systems to support safe flight operations, optimise operational efficiency and maintain uninterrupted airport operations
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Airfield systems monitoring & Operational readiness
- Monitor the operational status and availability of critical airfield systems, equipment and infrastructure to support safe and continuous airport operations.
- Conduct inspections of airfield lighting, signage, markings, visual aids and operational infrastructure, identifying and reporting defects affecting operational safety.
- Monitor the operational status of airfield lighting, navigational aids, meteorological systems and other critical facilities to assess operational impacts.
- Support the implementation of Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) by verifying system availability and communicating operational status to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, equipment status logs and operational readiness documentation in accordance with airport procedures.
- Airfield Operations Coordination & Operational Support
- Coordinate with the Airport Duty Manager, AOCC, VATM, Technical & Maintenance teams and operational stakeholders to support safe and efficient airport operations.
- Monitor navigational aid availability, weather conditions and operational restrictions to support operational decision-making.
- Support the collection, verification and dissemination of information for NOTAM requests, operational advisories and aeronautical information updates.
- Coordinate operational support for flight calibration activities, ORAT programmes and operational readiness initiatives.
- Communicate equipment status, operational restrictions and infrastructure availability during operational shifts and formal handovers.
- Incident Response, Safety Support & Continuous Improvement
- Identify, report and coordinate the resolution of equipment failures, infrastructure defects and operational hazards affecting airfield operations.
- Conduct airfield inspections and FOD management activities to maintain a safe operating environment.
- Support Airport Duty Managers during abnormal operations, equipment outages, low visibility operations and emergency situations.
- Participate in occurrence investigations, emergency exercises, operational reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comply with airport operational procedures, safety requirements and aviation regulations relating to airfield systems and operational readiness.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Meteorology, Aviation Technology or a related technical discipline.
- Knowledge of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), navigational aids (NAVAIDs), meteorological systems or airport technical infrastructure is preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and operate systems supporting airfield operations.
- Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in airport operations, technical operations, airfield systems monitoring or a related operational environment.
- Experience supporting or monitoring airfield lighting systems, navigational aids, meteorological systems or other critical airport infrastructure is preferred.
- Good understanding of airport operations and the operational significance of NAVAIDs, AGL systems and meteorological equipment.
- Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment and coordinating with multiple operational stakeholders.
- Ability to analyse technical information, assess equipment status and prepare accurate operational reports.
- Certifications & Licenses
- Airside Safety Training.
- Airside Driving Permit (ADP).
- Aerodrome Operations training or equivalent.
- Training or certification in NAVAIDs, Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), meteorological systems, Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) or Radio Telephony (RT) is preferred.
- Completion of CAAV-approved aerodrome operational training and structured on-the-job training (OJT) prior to undertaking independent operational duties.
